Somewhere in Kansas

As the light achieves a certain slant
crossing the flat flat flat
corn and wheat waving
Hello! Goodbye!
Small towns popping up like mushrooms
after rain
Following the General's great road
someone I love moves away from
me, into the oncoming dark

That is to say
the body moves
The heart stays
in the shallow hollow of my hand

That in the soul which sings
remains
and will
all ways

Though the distance between us has grown in miles, the love I carry in my heart for you has increased in kind

Nay, it has reached a proportion that I knew not existed.

Such is the nature of love - - - a fathom unknown, a depth without measure

There are times, my love, you absolutely take my breath away. This is one of them.
