Hard Frost

Morning, and the trees nearly naked
and sparkling, white trunks
The fields, white crisp ponds
That which will make through
the winter already dormant
protected in the genes
That which will not, seeds
already shed, waiting
And winter near
near enough to taste
And we turn the heat up
a little
And wait, too.

Hey! Now it's letting me comment!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to puddle's Kiddo! ♥

Hubby's Great Aunt Evelyn and my Aunt Bede had birthdays on Hallowe'en too!
Evelyn always dressed up as a witch to greet Trick or Treaters!!
