Cute wars
Since I'm being gone quite a bit now, and the cats have found new homes, the wood mouses have expanded their territory to include my house. Most disconcerting is finding seeds in my bed. I think next on their list is to turn my bed into a nest, hence the seeds at the ready, for the new babies.
Having been home for a week, the seeds are now all gone. But I have no doubt that when I return, they'll be back. I know. I need to get traps. But they're soooooooo *cute*!!

The only thing I worry about is that they'll get in the walls and attic and start chewing on the insulation on the electric wires. For some reason, these petroleum-based wiring sheaths are particularly tasty to rodentia and whatever family cockroaches belong to. I used to think it was because wires LOOK like roots, but now suspect that they actually like to consume plastic. Preblem is that when they chew through, they set up a potential short-circuit situation and that leads to ignition.

I don't know why you are complaining. As a good socialist, you should be willing to share what you have with others (and gladfully do so). You probably have more space than you need to actually live.
I'm for setting traps also. When living in Idaho we had a problem with critters getting into our home, except ours were squirrels, they set up housekeeping in our basement walls, we didn't mind, until one died, we had quite an odor permeating until we found the unfortunate squirrel.
Love the photo of Tyler and his family. Always sending love. What a brave boy.
Broken toes? Ouch. Tell Edwin to take care. Sending good thoughts.
