Things went smoothly today!
Staying up at David's House was a good plan, as we heard lots of stories about snow early in the morning.
They took Ally on time for her surgery. She made friends with another little girl in the playroom while we were waiting. Ally really has not inter-acted with another kid in over a year, so mostly Ally just watched the little girl play, but Ally did blow her kisses when the girl shared her toy with Ally. While Ally was in surgery Daddy and Mommy were able to go get some breakfast. She recovered rather quickly in the "Same Day Surgery" clinic and we were then sent to the Cancer Clinic. (While Ally was recovering she drank about 8 ounces of apple juice...dun, dun, duuuuunnnnnnn.)
We arrived at the Cancer Clinic (on Mondays it is adult only, but they had our usual room set aside for us) and there was a note on our door, expecting us around 1:00, it was 10:00; we were a little worried we would be stuck there waiting for chemo to start at 1:00. Those nurses were AWESOME! They got the ball rolling right away...just after Ally puked up the 8 ounces of apple juice she had just sucked down. (Ally usually doesn't drink much more than 8 ounces of anything in a whole day!)
The BIG side effect of this chemo is diarrhea. Ally had it before the chemo even started (probably from the apple juice). She is now taking immodium.
We got out of DHMC around 2:00 (earlier than we thought). During our 4 hours in the clinic Ally slept most of the time and she slept all the way home...very unusual for her. She needed a second dose of immodium when we got home as she blew through 2 diapers rather quickly.
Ally is scheduled to go back to DHMC every day this week and next for chemo. We are not expecting it to take 4 hours each time, probably closer to 2.5 or 3 hours.
We would like to thank our neighbors for being our heros today, as we came home to a clean driveway! THANKS!!!!
