Three of the Greensboro Four
met in high school and formed
a tight bond. All were deeply
affected by the 1955 lynching
of 14-year-old Emmett Till in
Mississippi and events like the
1955-56 bus boycott in
Montgomery, Ala., and the
1954 Supreme Court decision
outlawing segregated schools.
