I have seen the stones of Ireland
I have seen the stars of France
Seen them pirouette across the sky and
march into the sea
Circus animals set free
Knowing with the one-eyed man
Cats with painted faces live in me
who can't forget
Signs of symbols everywhere
water-seekers, -gatherers
At last, then, simply simple care:
majik incantation ~~ "I love you"
In that, and none else, seeds
are sown, grow, branch and bloom
Nothing of what we love is weed
fire- and bugleweed, teaberry, loosestrife
Pilgrims in the night on a rough ocean
Holding on, holding tight, wrapped,
each in the other. Least relative motion
as they are rocked to sleep
I love you
.
