Personally, you really need to blame the left wing environmentalists who have not allowed drilling in ANWR, no new refineries, support by the left of nut jobs like Chavez, etc.
In addition, you seem to forget (and very conveniently I might add), that China, India, Bangladesh, etc. are using more and more energy each day -- and therefore vying for the same energy.
Gosh, I didn't realize that China had been using so much more gas in the past six weeks!
